Relevance: 808's & Heartbreak

I wanted to talk about this album briefly. I think its fair to say that Kanye represents a new direction in todays hip-hip, pop, and r&b music genres. More to the point, is that he blurs the lines of these 3 genres seamlessly.

Take the intro, if you will. The first song on the album. Say You Will. It sets the tone for the entire album, being very slow and moody. A really beautiful song. The beat just makes me want to smoke a fat joint, with the lights real low. And the way he lets the track rock for more than a 2 minutes is a bit cocky, and you can't deny how dope the beat is. He has a genius quality when it comes to music. I think Kanye's influence on the music industry is amazing, and I just can't wait to see what he continues to produce.

Raphael Saadiq

So last night I went to the Highline Ballroom to see Raphael Saadiq perform. He did lots of oldies that we all know, and a few songs off his new album, "The Way I See It" which drops Sept 16th. The crowd was going really crazy for him. Before I went to the show, I didn't really remember who he was! Crazy, I know. He is such an amazing performer. And while trying to leave the stage the crowd, kept clapping and yelling for him to come back. Man, he is a soo beautiful. I rarely say that about men, actually almost never. But he is. Me and my girls ended up talking to him after the show and he's a real chill dude.

Go listen to the album!!

AND FURTHER MORE...

ERYKAH BADU'S NEW LP IS RIDICULOUS. I CAN'T EVEN. AND CONSIDERING THAT SHE HAS TITLED IT "PART 1" I WONDER WHAT ELSE TO EXPECT.

THIS IS ALSO PRETTY DOPE.

WE ARE HEALERS AFTER ALL.

AWED.AMAZED.AND INSPIRED.

Now the album hasn't officially dropped yet, but the leak has proven to be fucking sick! A video is in the works for the first single "Run."

This Is Something You Need To Hear.

Thanks Rose, for finding this and sharing, cuz the whole album is dope! If you know Fela Kuti, and are familiar with his music, then you know he's that ill dude! The tracks have been laid down with all the beats to Fela Kuti's hit songs, and some songs that you may not know. Download it here!

And luckily for those music lovers out there Z Share lets you download it directly into iTunes!

Santo Gold's "L.E.S. Artistes" Video

Love this. The horse, the girls dancing slightly odd, the symbolism of the paint, the words are actually pretty sick if you listen to them.

PERHAPS IT'S THE END OF THE WORLD AS YOU KNOW IT...

OR PERHAPS IT'S JUST KANYE'S WAY OF SAYING, HEY I'M GOING ON TOUR.

(HE'S BEEN SAYING THE WORLD IS GOING TO COME TO AN END SOON)

THERE'S NO QUESTION IN MY MIND THAT THIS WILL BE CRAZY, AND YOU KNOW THE CHI-TOWN CONCERT WILL BE STUPID ILL.

NO DATES OR PLACES HAVE BEEN SET AS OF NOW, BUT KEEP ON THE LOOK-OUT FOR THIS.

EVERYONE NOSE - THE NEW N.E.R.D. SONG SO OBVIOUSLY ABOUT YA-YO

On all the recent posts I've seen about this song, no one has yet mentioned the fact that the song is about the sniffles. The track opens by saying "all the girls standing in the line for the bathroom." Classic coke behavior, for the ladies. We all know coke has come back in a wierd way, or maybe it never left, which is what most people say. I'm not sure yet if I like this song, partly because of it's content, and partly because N.E.R.D. so rarely puts out a track these days that I tend to forget about them completely. But you can listen to it here...

FORBES 2007 HIGHEST PAID FEMALE MUSICIANS IN 2007. HOT DAMN!

This is a bit hard to believe, but apparently it's true. Take a look at these results!

Here it goes....
1. Madonna - $72 million
   2. Barbra Streisand - $60 million
   3. Celine Dion - $45 million
4. Shakira - $38 million
5. Beyoncé - $27 million
         6. Gwen Stefani - $26 million
 7. Christina Aguilera - $20 million
  8. Faith Hill - $19 million
9. Dixie Chicks - $18 million
10. Mariah Carey - $13 million
     11. Hilary Duff - $12 million
         12. Avril Lavigne - $12 million
13. Martina McBride - $12 million
  14. Britney Spears - $8 million
15. Carrie Underwood - $7 million
16. Nelly Furtado - $7 million
17. Fergie - $6 million
18. Jennifer Lopez - $6 million
   19. Sheryl Crow - $6 million
    20. Norah Jones - $5.5 million

The one result I'm most shocked by, is Britney Spears. She didn't do shit last year expect look like a coon. I guess if you count the fact that she has a perfume and has royalties coming in from past songs, then it makes sense that she made 8 mill!!! Nah I don't think so.

By way of the Street Consignor.

A Night At The Museum.

Now the movie have may been a dud, but tonight party is what your in store for. Flavorpill & The Museum of Natural History, have teamed up to turn the fossil halls into performance. It features DJ A-Trak, The Cool Kids, and Kid Sister. The museum will feature work by the Bronx-based graffiti artist, Fuevoz. The party is from 9 until 1 am, which means it starts in about 2 and a half hours!

The tickets are $20, now don't be cheap! I know no one wants to pay, and if your cool you never pay or wait online, but if your a fan of these guys and girl, then cough it up and go have a good time! The ticket also includes admission to the museum's Alien Space Show, plus a free future visit, which is really a good look since none of us go to museums enough. too cool for that? I don't think so!
